Celebrating Success

In seeking to develop happy, confident girls, we regularly celebrate their success.

House Points

House points, physical tokens in House colours, are awarded for effort, progress, or to recognise a successful approach to our termly learning disposition – these include being reflective and open minded, being collaborative and co-operative, being organised, independent and resilient and being courageous, taking risks and trying new things. Self-confidence and self-belief are also recognised and praised.

Good Work Assembly

Every Friday morning is Good Work Assembly, when we all meet together to celebrate the week. On alternate Fridays, girls from Lower or Upper school are nominated by staff to show their work to the rest of the school. Sometimes this is a musical or dramatic performance. We sing Happy Birthday to all of the girls who have celebrated their birthdays that week, we present certificates, medals and Punctuality Bear (see below), and learn which House has won the House Points competition for the week, as well as the termly total so far.

Punctuality Bear

PB is presented to whichever form or forms have been on time during the week. She often comes to assembly dressed up for the occasion, with a note for the Headmistress to read out, to tell everyone what she has been doing with the girls for the last few days.

Head’s Gallery

One girl’s work from each form is selected each term to be displayed in the Head’s Gallery. The girls are invited to the Headmistress’s Study to see their work on display and to receive a small thank you; each girl’s work is returned to her, framed if it is 2D, at the beginning of the following term.

Other events throughout the year – concerts, gym displays, Sports Day, Art & Design exhibitions, open days, form assemblies, and Prize Giving to name a few – are all opportunities for parents and friends to come into school and celebrate the girls’ success with us.
