Physical activity is a big thing at Stormont, and yesterday’s Sports Day was a celebration of everything that we believe is important on the sporting front: learning new skills, developing and extending existing ones, doing your best, supporting your friends, being a team.
Looking back over the year, girls in different Forms have had many opportunities to do a wide variety of different activities, including netball, rounders, tennis, hockey, lacrosse, rugby, cross-country, cricket, athletics (high jump, sprinting, long jump, vortex throwing – and even the sack race and the egg and spoon race!), Run4Fun, swimming, gymnastics, football, ball skills, Tae Kwon-do, dance, skiing and golf.
As well as lessons, clubs, masterclasses and activities, the girls will regularly spend their break times running, skipping, shooting (netballs!), throwing and catching, chasing, hopping, skipping, dancing and cartwheeling.
As I write this, a number of Upper School girls are sitting chatting on the sofa in my study before they go outside for the last activity of the week, and they have helped me to collate the list above; what a testament that list is to the staff who make this possible.
Thank you all.
