Community Links

Christ Church – we hold our annual Carol Service at Christ Church, Little Heath. Reverend Steve Rees comes into school to lead assemblies with the girls on a number of occasions every term, and they thoroughly enjoy his visits.

Cooperscroft – the girls in Form 6 visit Cooperscroft Care Home in Coopers Lane Road twice a year to sing to the residents, and have a chat over tea.

Brownies / Guides – based at Morven, we aim to support them by sharing parking facilities for overnight and weekend camps and activities.

Morven & the National Trust – we lease a field from the National Trust, adjacent to the school, and have started to look at forging closer links with Morven, as well as having access to some of the grounds for outdoor learning.

Potters Bar Carnival – the work of Stormont girls has featured regularly in the annual Art Exhibition.

Hertford Children’s Book Festival – as part of our involvement we welcome writers to school and visit Hertford Theatre to enjoy readings by authors.

Old Owens – our 70th Anniversary Party in June 2014 took place at Old Owens Sports Ground. On certain days, when a special event is taking place at school, Stormont parents are kindly permitted to park at the ground.

Every year the school selects and supports one charity in particular. Recently our nominated charity was Christopher Place. The previous year we supported Guide Dogs for the Blind, and the girls and their parents raised over £8,000 for this good cause. Several local volunteers and two visually impaired local residents visited school, to tell the girls about the different ways their fundraising efforts were helping Guide Dogs for the Blind.

As well as the annual the House Sale and the Rug Sale organised by the girls, other ideas for fundraising have included an obstacle race, a mask competition, cake sales, head massages and the resale of pre-loved golf balls.

The girls and the parents’ association have also supported Macmillan, UNICEF, WaterAid and Place2be, Hands Together – the Tiplyang Project, Wheelpower, Lawrence’s Roundabout Well Appeal, Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Starlight Children’s Foundation, Riding for the Disabled, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust, Whizzkids and Country Holidays for Inner City Kids.
