Entry to Stormont

We are delighted that you are considering Stormont School for your daughter. Our main entry points are Reception and Year 3. We sometimes have occasional places available in other year groups, so please do contact us if you want to discuss this.

Our admissions process is designed to ensure that Stormont is the right school for your daughter. To achieve this, we do not ask girls to sit entrance exams, instead we consider their readiness to join Stormont through dedicated events – further information appears below.

If you would like to visit the school we can arrange a private tour with our Headteacher Miss Martin at a time convenient to you. On this tour we can show you the school and answer any questions you may have. Alternatively, you are welcome to register to attend our open mornings, the dates of which can be found on our open mornings page.

If you have any questions about the Admissions process you can read our FAQs or contact us:

Entry at Reception (4+)

Our Readiness sessions help us to ensure that your daughter will thrive at Stormont. The girls will spend 60 minutes with our Pre-Prep team in a warm, child-focused environment, similar to the one they would experience in a pre-school setting. During this time they will enjoy a range of practical and play-based activities, giving her a gentle introduction to Stormont.

By engaging with each child, playing games, sharing activities and stories we gain an insight into whether your daughter is ready to join Stormont. We are sensitive to the needs of your young daughter and keep it to just a few girls per Readiness session.

Ahead of joining a Readiness session, parents and daughters are invited to join an Open morning or small group tour, helping girls feel at ease and ready to enjoy their return visit to Stormont for their Readiness session. Prior to booking onto a Readiness session, families should register their daughter. We offer a number of Readiness sessions in the autumn term, with offers made soon after the session.

Admissions timetable for entry to reception (4+) September 2027

Please note that all dates for 2027 entry are provisional and may change.

Once you have applied you will be invited to book a Bespoke Group tour (if you have not yet visited the school) and Readiness Session.

Should your daughter be offered a place at Stormont after the Readiness Session, you will be sent an Offer Letter and Acceptance Form. Both parents should complete and sign the Acceptance Form and pay the £1,000 deposit by the date specified in the offer. Of this amount, £500 is credited against your daughter’s first term’s fees, and the remaining £500 is refunded in her final term at Stormont, less any outstanding charges.

Fees are issued termly and must be paid by the first day of each new term. A full term’s notice is required if you choose to withdraw your acceptance of a Reception place. Fees in lieu of notice will be charged if the required notice is not received within the specified timeframe.

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions, available from the Admissions Office, for full details. The admissions process is kept under review and may be adapted according to circumstances at the time.

Entry to Year 3 (7+)

We consider Year 3 (7+) another one of our main entry points, and welcome applications for children to join us if we have capacity.

Please contact our Admissions team who will guide you through the process. If you have not yet visited the school, you will be invited to either a private tour or one of our Open Mornings.

Following your visit, we will require a completed Registration Form and payment of the registration fee, as outlined above. Please note that registering for an occasional or in-year place is an expression of interest and does not guarantee an offer.

If a place is available, you will be invited to meet with the Headteacher. At this stage, your daughter may be invited for a taster day and to participate in informal assessments in English and Maths to ensure that Stormont is the right fit for her. We will also request her most recent school report.

Once all steps are completed and we are confident that Stormont is the right choice, an offer letter will be issued, and the acceptance procedure, as outlined above, will follow.

The admissions process is kept under review and may be adapted according to circumstances at the time.
