Life at Stormont

Life at Stormont

At Stormont, we fill every day with learning, discovery, and fun. We provide a well-rounded education that encourages our girls to work hard, develop their talents, and grow into confident, kind, and capable individuals. Our warm environment ensures that every girl feels supported and valued as she embarks on her educational journey.

The girls have a varied daily timetable covering the STEM subjects, Humanities, French, music, drama, art, pottery, DT and PE. We have specialist classrooms which the girls rotate through the school day to use our wide range of facilities. For more information on our academic offering please click here.

Physical activity is an essential part of school life and we take great pride in our sporting achievements. Our girls participate in a variety of sports in their PE lessons, including netball, hockey, football, swimming, cricket, athletics, gymnastics. Throughout the year, our Prep girls compete in matches against other schools, or represent the school in tournaments and competitions.

Our school meals are all homecooked onsite by our catering team, offering the girls a range of hot meals, with a supporting salad bar, daily specials and homemade soups and bread. We encourage healthy eating and the sampling of new foods to develop good eating habits and a varied diet.

As the girls settle into their school life, we encourage them to become more independent as they move through the school years, which culminates in Prefect roles in Year 6. Our House system fosters a team spirit, and girls mix throughout the school day at break and lunch times and co-curricular clubs.

Across the year we have numerous events taking place that the girls are involved in. From assemblies, concerts, art exhibitions, the Year 6 leavers’ play, day trips, residential trips, discos and gymnastics displays, there are many opportunities for the girls to become involved in school life. Our supportive parent body often volunteer to speak in assemblies, share their experiences in our Year 6 life skills classes, and run events for both the girls and parents through our Stormont Parents’ Association which are always well supported.

We are vested in our local community and play an active part supporting those around us. We have termly visits to our local care homes and we sponsor our local girls football team. We have a long-standing relationship supporting The Hart and Parker Trust, and additionally for 2024-25 we are supporting the Potters Bar Foodbank with donations throughout the year.
