Girls learn skills in modelling, coil and slab work, building upon previous years’ knowledge and understanding. Pupils also look at the work of culturally diverse artists, craftspeople and designers, including trips and a project with a visiting practitioner.

We are fortunate to have a designated pottery studio that houses its own working kiln.  The Reception class initially explore the properties of clay and develop manipulation skills and techniques to produce delightful work.  By Year 6 the girls are confidently creating ambitious thoughtful pieces.  All girls’ work is displayed in our annual exhibition.

A vessel is formed from a lump of clay with care, however, it is the empty space within the vessel that makes it useful.

Embrace this earth and feel the feelings of touch.
