EYFS and Pre-Prep

The girls start in our Early Years Foundation Stage Reception class. They soon settle in and are happy, bouncing into school each day. The curriculum is designed to build on the skills that individual girls will have worked on prior to Stormont.  We provide a secure environment designed to stimulate, excite and challenge them developing their confidence and self-esteem. They have a real desire for learning, which helps them achieve their full potential. We take the responsibility of developing well balanced girls very seriously. By October Reception have the confidence to perform on stage in our Harvest Festival celebrations in front of the whole school and parents. By Christmas they are fully involved in a Nativity production singing songs and performing in small groups and by the Spring Term they are able to perform their own class assembly!

We have a broad curriculum valuing academic, social, emotional, spiritual and physical development- feeding their natural curiosity. Right from the word go the children are taught by subject specialists in different rooms in the school experiencing PE, French, Art, Pottery, Computing, and Music all with specialists in their field. We use Early Learning Goals as our aims but many children exceed these by the time they leave Reception.

With high adult ratios and highly qualified form teachers we are able to provide bespoke learning in English and Numeracy allowing the girls to progress quickly and achieve high academic standards. Sessions of child initiated play allow consolidation and reinforcement of skills in a fun, active learning environment. Through targeted praise and plenty of rewards to celebrate success the girls establish good learning habits quickly.

We work very closely with our parents having regular meetings, inviting parents to celebrate good work, reading and maths workshops in order to support their child’s next steps.
